Family Fun Afternoon @ Holy Rood Church
Oct 6 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Family Fun Afternoon @ Holy Rood Church

Family Fun Afternoons are an opportunity families in our community to have fun and learn together.  They are for families with children in primary school, but if your kids are a bit younger or older and you would like to come, you would be very welcome.

During these Family Fun Afternoons, we turn the entire Holy Rood site into an activity centre.  After a short welcome there are zones running across the whole site.  The zone activities change each afternoon but usually include a craft zones, a beauty zone, a baby zone for younger children, a sports zone, a games zone, a build zone and more – so there should be something for everyone’s taste!  There is also be a cafe area if you need a cup of tea or squash.  Finally, we finish with an all-together time from 3-3:30pm where families can learn and have fun together.

Do come along with your kids.  Doors open at 1:45pm and entry is £3 per family.  You don’t have too have any other involvement with Crofton Parish to come – this event is for the whole community!

Harvest and Gift Day @ Holy Rood Church
Oct 7 @ 9:30 am – 10:45 am

Holy Rood Church will be celebrating harvest and holding a Gift Day on 9th October. St. Edmunds 11:10 congregation will also have their harvest and Gift Day on the 9th while their 9:30 congregation will hold theirs on 16th October.

We give produce at harvest as a reminder of the necessities of life God has provided for us.  The harvest goods that are donated will be given to the Fareham and Gosport Basics Bank, so please do not contribute perishable goods.

Crofton Parish is a thriving place.  There is so much going on across all our congregations, For which we thank God.The “2020 Vision” we launched this year invites us on an exciting faith journey with Jesus.  In order to make that journey we need to ensure we can “resource” (i.e. pay for) what we do to serve our communities in Jesus’ name.  We are however facing a deficit in 2018, rather than use reserves we would like to cover the shortfall with this one-off gift day offering.

You can see the Gift Day notice here >>>

We are asking people to complete a “pledge” form indicating their gift, you can download it here >>>

If you would like to give online through our link with Charities Aid Foundation (CAF), you can do so here >>>

Tea and cakes are served afterwards in the Church Centre, with the opportunity to talk to clergy and members of the bereavement visiting team.

You do not need to attend Holy Rood, or any other church, to attend.  The service is open to anyone who has been bereaved whether recently or a while ago.

Christingle Service @ Holy Rood Church
Dec 6 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Christingle Service @ Holy Rood Church

Our Christingle Service takes place soon after the start of Advent – the name the Church gives to the period leading up to Christmas.

This service is particularly suitable for families, but all are welcome.  During the service the children will be given a Christingle.  The different parts of the Christingle each remind us of God’s work in the world.  The orange represents the world. The dried fruits and sweets are symbols of God’s creations. For many people, they also represent the four seasons. The red ribbon round the middle of the orange indicates the love and blood of Christ.  While the lit candle symbolises Jesus, the light of the world, who brings hope to people living in darkness.
