Our Christingle Service takes place soon after the start of Advent – the name the Church gives to the period leading up to Christmas.
This service is particularly suitable for families, but all are welcome. During the service the children will make a Christingle. The different parts of the Christingle each remind us of God’s work in the world. The orange represents the world. The dried fruits and sweets are symbols of God’s creations. For many people, they also represent the four seasons. The red ribbon round the middle of the orange indicates the love and blood of Christ. While the lit candle symbolises Jesus, the light of the world, who brings hope to people living in darkness.
As Christmas Eve moves into Christmas Day do come and join us as we celebrate Jesus’s birth. As we join in Holy Communion we also remember that Jesus came to die on the cross so that our sins may be forgiven – what a gift!
