to know Christ and make Christ known

One of the best ways of meeting people and making new friends is to join one of the many groups and clubs that meet regularly in the parish. Whatever your age or outlook, there is sure to be something to suit you.

We have divided the groups into Friendship Groups, which usually meet in the Parish Centre and will be larger (but not so large that you wont get to know others) and House Groups which, as the name suggests meet in peoples houses and are smaller in size.

Friendship Groups

The following groups are all pleased to welcome new members.

Mothers’ Union

The Mothers’ Union meets in the Church Centre at 2 pm on the first Tuesday afternoon each month, and has a variety of interesting visiting speakers. Occasionally lunch is served before the meetings.

CAFE

CAFE stands for Coffee And Friendship for Everyone.  CAFE meets every Wednesday morning.  Coffee is served in the church centre from 9.45 am.  On the first Wednesday of the month CAFE joins with our daytime pastorate congregation at 10.30 am for a brief informal service led by one of the clergy team.

Cup of Tea and Company

The Cup of Tea and Company friendship and support group is for anyone suffering the pain of bereavement. Please come along, second Tuesday of the month, 2 pm to 3.30 pm in the Church Centre, for a cup of tea, slice of cake and some company with others who know how life can seem at this time.

Do contact the office by phone or by using the contact form at the bottom of the page.

Home Groups

Our home groups for adults all vary, so it is very likely that you will find one that meets your interests and personality.  As well as the chance to meet others a home group often includes Bible study, prayer and worship.

Home groups generally have between eight and fifteen members.  The majority meet in people’s houses, but there are groups that meet in Holy Rood Church Centre.  They usually meet every week or every fortnight.  The format does vary, the proportion of time spent in prayer, worship, study and fellowship is different in the different groups; some groups will look more deeply into the background of a Bible passage while others will concentrate more on how the passage applies to us today – and other groups will vary their format week by week!  Our groups welcome members from any generation.

We do recommend you join a home group if possible – they provide the opportunity to make new friends, to share concerns and joys and talk and learn about God’s love and grace.

Please complete this form or contact the office if you are interested in joining an adult group
